Let's start out with our session on Ghosts.... I did contact a few ghost hunting agencies in UT... most of the are up north in the SLC area and above... It is hard to just contact them because they make themselves a bit difficult to be bothered by frivolous claims and people. At least that is my take on it.

If any member can get in contact with an agency or ghost hunter... it would be greatly appreciated. Even if we could do a speaker phone call during the meetup, That would be pretty cool.

Next, we had our first ever pod cast recorded and I posted it today..... The resolution is very low because of website limitations and that helps to keep everyone private, I think. The object of all of this it to grow our community and make other curious people feel comfortable exploring their beliefs. I know that I have been worried or scared for a very long time... so, we can offer that confidence to other people through technology while still keeping ourselves private. a link to that page is here: http://www.metaphysical-healer.com/podcast_recordings

Thank you very much for your membership. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Christopher

Well thats about it for the night go to links and have some fun.we will soon be talking about ghosts and the paranormal and wiccan authurs!

If there's one thing that can sour a vacation, it's thinking about your furry friend caged up in boarding while you're laid out on the beach. In the past, it was hard to find a pet-friendly hotel, but these days it's hard not to find accommodations that welcome pets. According to an American Hotel & Lodging Association survey of 8,000 hotels in the U.S., 60 percent welcome pets. Here's a roundup of ten of the most easily found pet-friendly hotels in America.

Best Western: With more than 1,000 hotels nationwide that accept pets as overnight guests, you'll have no problem housing Fido at your next destination. Each has its own pet fee, ranging anywhere from free to $50 a night. Check with individual locations to find out what their fee is and if they have any size restrictions.

Choice Hotels: 2,500 accommodations within the Choice family, which includes Comfort Inn and EconoLodge, allow pets in their rooms. Since each hotel is individually owned, make sure to visit Choice's website for pet-friendly franchises.

Kimpton Hotels: For those with large dogs, this series of boutique hotels in 16 U.S. cities has no size or weight limits, plus there aren't any extra fees for bringing your pet with you. Some Kimpton properties host special events like pet costume parties and meet-and-greet cocktail hours. All hotels offer dog walking services and chew toys, and if you don't have a pet, they'll loan you a goldfish for your stay (housekeeping makes sure your new friend is well fed).

Hilton: Felines and canines are welcome at most Hilton Hotels & Resorts throughout the U.S. and Canada for a flat fee of $75. Only one pet is allowed per room and it must be under 75 lbs. At check-in, your four-legged friend will receive a Creature Comfort welcome package that includes organic treats and bio-degradable poop bags, and once in your room, your pet can cat nap on a Crypton Clean Pet Pillow designed by William Wegman. Concierge desks have lists of local pet-friendly activities including walking trails.

Holiday Inn: Nearly half of all Holiday Inns welcome pets. The 6th Ave., Manhattan location in New York City offers treats and a chew toy for dogs, and treats and a catnip toy for kitties. Walking services are available as well, along with Wee Wee pads and litter boxes on loan.

Hotel Indigo: All 34 U.S. properties accept pets, though each sets its own size limits and fees. Several locations host weekly Canine Cocktails Happy Hours -- Atlanta's Midtown weekly event was even featured in the book "Must Love Dogs." Four of the hotels have in-house dogs to greet you when you check in.

Loews Hotels: A one-time $25 fee covers your pet's entire stay. There's a special pet-friendly room service menu that the hotel developed with a licensed veterinarian which includes foods designed to help pets deal with travel stress such as jet lag and altitude adjustments. You can also borrow litter boxes, leashes, collars, and pet beds. Loews Hotels also offers dog walking and pet sitting, and even has a "Puppy Pager" service, which gives guests a pager or cell phone that hotel staff can ping if there's a pet-related emergency.

Marriott: Over 1,080 of the residences within the Marriott family accept pets. Each has its own fees, so check with the hotel before you book. You can search for pet-friendly Marriotts via the company's reservation site.

Motel 6: Each of the 1,000+ locations accept one pet per room. There are no frills here, but you also won't have to pay extra to bring your furry friend with you.

Starwood Hotels: The W, Westin and Sheraton hotels accept dogs and cats. The Westin offers a special pet bed complete with oversized pillows and a mini duvet. Every hotel in the Starwood family offers food and water bowls as well as personalized ID tags with hotel contact information.

Misty Wood sent a message to the members of Talking Tarot and other Spiritual techniques.

--------------------
Subject: January – the month of the Oak, the heart of winter.

In Finnish, January is called tammikuu, meaning month of the oak, but the original meaning was the month of the heart of winter, as tammi has initially meant axis or core.

THE OAK (QUERCUS ROBOR) is deeply connected in our hearts as representing the very essence of England, and especially the power of the High King and his ancient and spiritual link to the land. It would be hard not to think of this tree as a masculine energy - mighty, strong, enduring and steadfast. The oak is the mightiest of trees and symbolizes strength and courage.

The images we have of the Oak are buried deep in our national psyche. Indeed, it is one of our longest-living trees, spanning generations upon generations. For this reason, old oaks were venerated and used by the Druids, Ovates and Bards, and later by the Kings and the Church, for important meetings and ceremonies. They were planted to mark boundaries because of their longevity and strength to endure for hundreds of years.

The ancient Romans thought oak trees attracted lightening and thereby connected the oak tree to the sky god, Jupiter and his wife, Juno, the goddess of marriage. Thus, the oak is a symbol of conjugal fidelity and fulfilment. The oak tree was regarded by Socrates as an oracle tree. The Druids likewise ate acorns in preparation for prophesying. In addition, the Druids believed the leaves of the oak tree had the power to heal and renew strength.

In Celtic mythology, it is the tree of doors, believed to be a gateway between worlds, or a place where portals could be erected.
In Norse mythology, the oak was sacred to the thunder god, Thor. Some scholars speculate that this is because the oak, as the largest tree in northern Europe, was the one most often struck by lightning. Thor's Oak was a sacred tree of the Germanic Chatti tribe. Its destruction marked the Christianisation of the heathen tribes by the Franks.

In Classical mythology, the oak was a symbol of Zeus and his sacred tree. An example is the oracle of Dodona, which in prehistory consisted solely of a holy oak.

In the Bible, the oak tree at Shechem is the site where Jacob buries the foreign gods of his people (Gen. 35:4) . In addition, Joshua erects a stone under an oak tree as the first covenant of the Lord (Josh. 24.25-7). In Isaiah 61, the prophet refers to the Israelites as "Oaks of Righteousness".

This Country will need help for years, not days. They have nothing, in one instant everything was leveled and buried in rubble. Think If this was California would you not help? I would, I know no one there, but if you live on this earth and are a sentient being you are my kin. Always remember We ARE ALL ONE! you can use the links above to donate or text give to 5555 or volunteer to go their with what ever charity may need you. And heres today's other news:

Meetup Description
This week we will be discussing the ability to sense and perceive information without being at the location that the information is sensed. Remote viewing, astral traveling, and psychic perception falls under this classification.

The basic framework is to start with a 10 to 15 minute meditation so we all come closer to a calmer and clearer mindset then into the subject of the week. Members can add their personal experiences on the subject being discussed and usually do. The hour and a half is usually very short for the conversations we have and it moves quickly.

We have a pretty upbeat group of positive people.

Christopher

I thought this Sunday's service might be of interest to area pagans. I wish I could go but Sunday is Sheldon's birthday and we already have stuff planned for the day. Have a blessed weekend, everyone.

President’s Day weekend

Join us for workshops, parties and Pagan revelry galore !!!!

Place: the DoubleTree San Jose - The Double Tree is sold out of rooms. You can go to the overflow hotel, Holiday Inn San Jose, for an $85 rate; mention PantheaCon for the special rate. This year’s Theme is Back to Basics --- As energy and economics implode we look for more simple ways of life. Our pagan ethics and worship of our Earth Mother help us forge new sustainable lifestyles as we honor the old ways. What we know about the old ways of life, others now acknowledge as new imperatives to be the custodians of our earth. What is the bottom line when it comes to our lives and our spirits? What living skills of our traditions are especially needed for the future?

Modern Dating Etiquette -- When a Dude Won't Shut Up During a Movie
Dating & Love
Dating Etiquette
20 Comments
It's a problem as old as dating clichés themselves: As long as there has been dinner and a movie, there have been oafish bores who insist on yammering through the whole film. Science can't explain it. Don't even try to understand it. Just know what you can do to deal with it, especially if you otherwise like this dude.

Even if your date isn't being polite, how can you handle the situation in a classy and considerate manner? Because let's face it:You're a classy and considerate lady, and his boorish behavior is going to reflect on you, too.

There are a number of archetypes we're dealing with here. Let's explore how to grapple with each.

1. The Confused: You've met him. He's genuinely not following the plot. Perhaps he's nervous or grappling with ADHD. In any case, answer his questions about who just shot the other guy as concisely and quickly as possible. Set an example by whispering and keeping it to an absolute minimum. "I'll explain later" is always a good movie-conversation-squelching mechanism.

2. The Quipper: This guy feels the need to make snarky comments throughout the film. Depending on his level of expertise, these are either genuinely funny or witty, or merely embarrassing. If it's the former, a smile and rejoinder in a whisper is appropriate. If it's the latter, oftentimes staring intently at the screen and pretending to be so absorbed that you didn't hear him can do the trick.

3. The Uninterested: This is the person who has come to the movie for no discernible reason, since he's more interested in discussing conservative radio hosts, comic books or last week's episode of "Entourage" than in watching the film.

Frankly, he's straight-up rude. He's not interested in the movie and therefore expects you not to be either. Try the direct approach. A polite but firm, "Sorry, I'm having trouble hearing the movie" should do it. If not, you might want to re-evaluate ever going to a movie with this guy again.

Whatever you do, don't resort to letting your firearm do the shushing for you. That's just bad manners for everyone.

Candle making is my specialty. People often asks me why I do it. and how to make them. First I tell them its fun, and saves money. I reuse my extra candle wax and re-melt it. Form new candles I can use. Here is what you need to have to make a candle:
wax
strearine, if desired
a double boiler for melt in the wax
a candy thermometer
Dyes and scents
a tall, deep pot for dipping in wicking
molds-bought, found, or made
silicone spray or peanut oil
a ladle and /or small pitcher
a sheet cake pan
an oven mitt
an ice pick
a long metal rod
a bucket of cool water
any special items (like ice or a bucket of sand) needed for the kind of candles you are making
You can buy candles molds at hobby shops, along with your other supplies. You don't have to use a store-bought mold, however; a tubular frozen juice container will work splendidly. Also consider using a bucket of slightly damp sand, in which you dig out the shape you want your candle to be. You ca even use eggshells.
Before pouring the wax, spray the inside of the mold with a silicone spray, or lightly brush the inside of the mold with peanut oil. This will allow you to remove the hardened candles from their molds easily.
The most common way to get this wick in the molded candle is to put the wick in first, followed by the wax. Most commercial molds fill from the bottom, so your candle is upside-down while you're making it. The mold will have a small hole a candle's tip. Tie your wick around a toothpick, pull it trough the mold from the tip to the open bottom, and tie it to a pencil laid across the open bottom, with the wick taut inside the mold.
Dip the tip-end of the mold in to the wax two or three times, so the first hot wax you pour in won't shoot out the end on to your shoes. Or use a dab of clay. You can also place the tip-end in a shallow pan of cold water. A little wax may ooze out, but it will harden immedity, and you can add it in back to the wax pot later. A sheet cake pan will also catch drips during the pour.
We can't say this too often-melt your wax in a double boiler or slow cooker, never in a pot that's directly over an open flame, because the vapors can explode. Never heat the wax about 212 degrees, because at 212 degrees it will begin to smoke and turn brown. Never leave melting wax unattended. Add any colors you wish near the end, and the sensed oils last. Make sure the wicks are centered in the molds, the molds are in a shallow pant catch wayward drips, and carefully pour the wax in. If you need to hold the mold, use an oven mitt. Some times it helps to ladle the hot wax into a small pitcher and poor from that.(This part should be done by Adults or mature young people under supervision, not by children.) For molds made of glass, plastic, cardboard-anything but metal-pour the wax between 150 degrees and 165 degrees. Heat your metal molds to about 100 degrees in the oven before pouring-this will give the candles a smoother finish. Pour wax in to a metal mold when it is between 190 degrees and 200 degrees.
After the wax is poured into mold, it will shrink as it cools. This will leave a depression at the top of the mold, or sometimes and air pocket under a thin skin of wax. Break the skin if there is one, then add more wax. You may have to do this more than once to get the surface solid and flat. Cooling can be hastened by immersing the poured candle in a bucket of cool water, but wait a least half an hour before doing this.
Candles that are 1 inch in diameter should remain in their molds for a lest 8 hours, and larger diameter candles will have to cool even longer. Ice candles, are exception.
For decorated candles, let them cool longer than you would expect then to need, just to be sure the wax is hard as it will get. Gently tap the mold and candle should come out. If it doesn't, try dropping it, open end down, onto a soft cloth on a hard counter or floor. I necessary, dip it for a few seconds into hot water. Or put it in freezer for half an hour; the wax will contract and should come free. If you need a jack hammer or high explosives to get your candle out of the mold, you should use more silicone spray or peanut oil next time.
Scrape away any excess wax, Cut off extra wicking if you don't need it, but leave a couple of inches to hold if you plan to do any post-decorating dipping. Polish the final product with a plain nylon stocking. Now you're ready to put your new candle in to a beautiful holder, and use it to decorate your home.

If you like walking:
Wicklow town occupies a rough circle around Wicklow harbour. To the immediate North lies 'The Murrough', a popular grassy walking area beside the sea, and the eastern coastal strip. The land rises into rolling hills to the West. The dominant feature to the south is the rocky headland known as 'Wicklow Head', the easternmost mainland point in the Republic of Ireland (technically the easternmost point in the Republic is on Lambay Island off Co. Dublin).

At the beginning of the year, a new program was announced by the Walt Disney company, called "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." where families are being encouraged to volunteer together. Qualifying participants will receive a voucher good for a free one-day pass at the Disneyland or Disney World parks.

We are very pleased and proud to announce that the Church of the Sacred Circle is an official part of this initiative. Since we have many families who are involved in our group, we are very excited about being able to offer them the opportunity to volunteer through this initiative, as well as to offer the general public a way to give back to the community.

We will be offering many opportunities throughout the year to participate in this program, from food drives to projects that will help benefit the Temple, and we are thrilled to be able to help families learn about the rich rewards of volunteering together.

from Patti Wigington
This week, we're having tons of fun with a badly spelled, fundamentalist rant that arrived in my email box, as well as some changes to school curriculum, and televangelist Pat Robertson once again opening his mouth and inserting his foot. We're also looking at how to manage your time to make room for magic, an Amazon shaman school, and ideas for making your own Tarot deck. Best Email Ever: Ur Goin to Hell!
Thursday January 14, 2010
The author of My Bestest Email Ever writes in, "i'm a Christain and i can't belive ur allowed to writ about this garbage on the internett. i pray for you and all the misgided soles you led astray with ur witchcrafts!! U pegans are all sinners! And God yes God the ONE TRUE GOD will make u BRUN IN HELL! then you be sorry!"

Oh dear. Where to begin. I was going to clean up your spelling and grammar, but then I decided your email in its original form is far more entertaining. Okay, let's break it down a bit, shall we?

Yes, I'm allowed to write about this stuff on the Internet. However, you're not obligated to read it. Don't like it? No worries -- go somewhere else. The Interwebz is a big place, and I'm sure there's a place you'll feel more at home. Someplace where ALL CAPS is considered a badge of piety, perhaps.

Second, I can't guarantee that I've led too many people astray personally, so unless I stole your boyfriend back in the early 90s, I'm not sure where this accusation is coming from. As to the prayer issue, I don't think anyone here really needs or wants it. Perhaps you should consider praying that your god grants you a little more tolerance for those who believe differently than you. A spellcheck feature would be a nice gift too.

Regarding sin and hellfire, here are some thoughts on the matter: Pagans and Sinning and Will I Go To Hell if I Cast Spells?

And on a final note, I'd like to helpfully suggest that the next time you email me, have someone proofread it first, because otherwise you just look like a giant idiot when I post it here for my readers to giggle at.
Texas Looks at Social Studies Curriculum
Thursday January 14, 2010
The Texas State Board of Education is preparing to vote on changes to public school social studies curriculum. I've got to say, one wouldn't normally think that social studies books should cause such a fuss. Apparently at some point during the lengthy review process, "expert reviewers" suggested an increased focus on Christianity in relation to the founding of the United States. As you can probably imagine, that led to a bit of controversy.

The whole process appears to have been fraught with skirmishes between the more conservative members of the review committee, and everyone else. In the past, conservatives objected to the inclusion of civil rights leaders like Thurgood Marshall and Cesar Chavez.

In addition to the religious disconnect, there have been issues with the review committee regarding the portrayal -- or rather, the lack thereof -- of Hispanic figures in the history books.

Sara Weiss of Americans United for Separation of Church and State said, "We should acknowledge where religion did play a role [in history]... but we should also point out where it didn't." She added that "too much emphasis on religion could jeopardize the school's constitutional boundaries." Robertson Blames Quake on Haitians
In a shining example of how some people walk the fine line between tasteless and just freakin' stupid, Pat Robertson has opened his mouth and blamed yesterday's earthquake on -- you guessed it -- the Haitian people. Why? Because, he says, they "swore a pact to the Devil," in exchange for ol' Satan freeing them from the control of the French. So it's pretty clear that...Read moreMore Topics

10 Things Every Woman Should Have in Her Car
Gotta Know
Lifespy
10 Things
Self Service
3 Comments
Mir Kamin is a BlogHer.com contributor who writes about writing, parenting and shopping.

One of the things I traditionally do at the start of a new year is clean out the inside of my car. It's just as glamorous as it sounds, particularly because I gave birth to a couple of trash factories a few years back. Sometimes the things I find on this annual excursion are best left undisclosed.

After I take everything out (and vacuum, and bust out the Windex, Armor All, and sometimes even the Febreeze), I have to figure out what gets put back in. In doing so I have to deal with two warring factions in my brain; on the one hand, I actually despise clutter in the car, and like to travel as light as possible. On the other hand, nothing irritates me more than not having something there when I want/need it. Fortunately, the car I currently drive has a trunk approximately the size of Delaware, so generally I can work it out.

So I started thinking about it, and I realized that there are plenty of items I simply won't leave home without, and it goes well beyond the standard "emergency items" we're all cautioned to have on board. I'm not an expert (nor do I play one on television), but the following is my list of 10 things every woman should have in her car:

10) Standard emergency kit items. This includes things like a flashlight, tire gauge, etc. Check out this great little video from Lauren Fix's Howdini on what to have stocked in your kit:

The only change/addition I'd offer is that -- particularly if you have a small car -- it may not be practical to carry actual blankets. Consider picking up a few emergency mylar blankets to keep in your glove box for emergencies, instead. They're cheap and tiny.

Also, even though crank-handle flashlights tend to have a weaker beam than conventional ones, you never find yourself cursing dead batteries. The flashlight I keep in my car is always a wind-up one.

9) Personal paper products. I keep tissues in the car at all times, and I'm always glad I do. Those people you drive past who are not-so-surreptitiously picking away while tooling down the freeway? They forgot their tissues.

If you have the room, throw a roll of paper towels into the trunk, too. You never know. I also like baby wipes as a multi-purpose "clean up everything" option even when you no longer have babies, but I've learned the hard way that here in the South they dry out in hot cars, so I've sort of given up on that one.

There's no delicate way to put this, so I'll just say it: Ladies, if you're still menstruating -- have supplies in your car. I know you keep them in your purse. I also know that sometimes the purse stash runs out and you forget to restock and you're in the car on your way to Somewhere Important Where There Are Only Men and you find yourself thinking of all the things you would cheerfully trade in at that moment for a tampon sans embarrassment. Keep 'em in the glove box.

8) Umbrella. This is another one of those "But I have one in the house/in my purse/at my office" sorts of things where there's always a reason not to bother. Umbrellas are cheap and small, and no matter how many you own, you will one day find yourself in the car in a torrential downpour, with all your other umbrellas MIA.

7) Cell phone charger. I should probably make this one plural; while a cord that fits into your cigarette lighter is a no-brainer, the cost for those portable battery-run chargers and even pocket solar chargers has really come down in recent years. If your cell phone is a lifeline (and really, whose isn't?) making sure you have a way to charge it on the go is just common sense.

6) Reusable shopping bags. At the moment my husband and I have three cars in the driveway, and that's a long and convoluted story I'm not going to share right now, but Way Back When we had one car and one set of reusable grocery bags. The bags lived in the car. Then we got a second car, and the bags lived in the house -- virtually guaranteeing that whenever one of us decided to stop to pick up "just a few things" we didn't have the bags with us. After this happened a few (dozen) times, we bought a second set for the second car.

When the third vehicle came along we figured it was driven infrequently enough that we could just pull one of the other sets when needed. That ended exactly the way you suppose, with one too many times that someone found themselves bagless. I don't know about where you live, but where I am, the grocery store sells those bags for a buck apiece; having a set in the car is cheap and you'll always be glad to have them.

5) Dog treats and a spare leash. If you're not an animal lover I suppose you could skip this one... but, um, ever read Cujo? The chances of having to distract an angry dog are probably slim, but having Milkbones handy is never a bad idea. (Bonus: If you have a dog, yourself, you'll probably be glad to have a treat handy at some point when your pooch is in tow.)

As for the spare leash, well, it's possible I'm paranoid. But again, it's not like it takes up a lot of room....

4) Snacks with a good long shelf life. Most emergency kits suggest MREs or protein bars, but I consider those true emergency food. What about "short on time and the kids are clamoring for a snack" food? One of my friend keeps packets of peanut butter in the car for her boys; they suck it directly out of the pouches for a protein hit when they're hungry. Although I generally eschew "individual serving" foods for at home, little packs of cookies, dried fruits and crackers seem to stay fresh longer and save me from a relentless chorus of "Mom, we're starving!"

3) Money. There is no feeling of helplessness quite like being late to an appointment and realizing you have no change for the meter. Or maybe that's just me. I also almost never have cash on me (long live plastic!), so in addition to the pile of meter-change I keep in my car, I have a couple of well-hidden twenties for those dire occasions when I must make a purchase in a venue that only takes cash.

2) Good Book. I keep a book in the car as a matter of course. Sometimes I get stuck somewhere for a while, and really, having to just sit around and read is... kind of relaxing.

1) GPS Unit. I don't leave home without my GPS. Maybe you have a good sense of direction, but I do not. I can get lost in my own town. I can get lost coming home from the supermarket. Basically, I can get lost any time I don't have my GPS, which is why I make sure I always have it. And that includes the power cord, because having a dead GPS in the car is infinitely sadder than having no GPS at all.
