Merry Meet, here's my rant .One I was watching some news program and really are you worried about the so called "Christan's " who went to Haiti to steal Children.I mean when you go full well knowing your doing this may get you put in jail and your Church or religions web site states that you are going there on a mission to get at least 150 children from the streets to take back to America to raise in Christan homes . You know full well that they didn't care where they got the children and who's they were.I mean with over half the peoples of Haiti's religion being that of a voodoo path. Diane Sawyer Can kiss my ass they were not "just being good Christians" If you are a true humanitarian you should respect the people you are helping them, there culture and religious beliefs as well. Here's my take on the story about the wiccan Boyfriend who made his girl friend take a blood oath to never leave and when she tyred to killed her. My hell this guys crazy! Where in the world does it say vengeance is yours if your a wiccan and someone brake and oath.First of all and oath is nothing more than a spoken contract between you and who ever and god.Next If he was a true wiccan than he would know are first and most important rule Do what you will but harm none! I Say Cooke, nut , off his rocker. You know all the Christan groups are going to have a field day with this one and milk it for all they can. I for one will be fighting against those morons oops Mormons who think they can use this story to try to get and wiccan in to the cult of lies and made up stories. You know there whole religion is made up, only thing that is true is Christ was a man,was seen as Messiah to some Jews ,and he said he died for those those who fallowed him sins. other than that ,a man with a near death experience, remembered a story he was told mixed Catholicism ideas with some of new age thoughts and stories of fake native American tribes and bingo threes a religion.Adding to why many think is a cult Rather than a true Christan or just plain religion is the facts of sceratecy and rituals that make some uncomfortable. But they got one Christan value right thinking there righteous and true , always right, and can do no wrong. You are humans you do have faults everything does.So I say free will, I'm happy I'm a Eclectic wiccan. The next story makes even happier that I'm a wiccan.fingerprint scanning your Church goers, not I.If my coveners come they come to a coven meeting ,wish they'd come more often and on pagan stander ed time as well ,but whata gona do.People are people.I know we got free will and all.So come if you must ,but if you don't come at all, I take a nap or write this blog to annoy you! So, there!Hope to see you Sunday at 3pm for imbolic/candlemas.

AOL News
(Feb. 3) -- Prosecutors in Everett, Wash., say a Gold Bar man murdered his former girlfriend last month because she broke a "Wiccan blood oath" to break off a relationship with another man.
Eric Christensen, 40, was charged Jan. 29 in Snohomish County Superior Court with first-degree murder in the slaying of 35-year-old Sherry Harlan. On Monday, Christensen entered a not guilty plea and remains jailed on $5 million bail. His trial is set to begin March 19.
Prosecutors say Harlan's body was cut up and left in various locations in the area.
"Both Christensen and Harlan were members of the Wiccan church, and Christensen had Ms. Harlan enter into this blood oath in December 2009, promising not to see this other fellow -- her sugar daddy," Craig Matheson, Snohomish County senior deputy prosecutor, told AOL News. "She promised to do that during the course of this oath that was witnessed by another Wiccan."
Snohomish County Sheriff's Office
Prosecutors say Eric Christensen, left, murdered his former girlfriend Sherry Harlan because she broke a "Wiccan blood oath" to end a relationship with another man.
Representatives of the Wiccan community have reacted strongly to what they say is a misguided rationalization for the slaying involving practices that are not condoned by the religion.
Harlan was reported missing Jan. 5 when she failed to show for work. When police questioned her friends, they said they were concerned for her safety because she had recently told them she was worried that Christensen would "beat her to a bloody pulp" if she broke up with him, police said.
Christensen's public defender, Kathleen Kyle, did not return calls for comment.
When authorities searched Harlan's apartment in south Everett, they found signs of a violent struggle and evidence that someone had attempted to clean the unit with bleach. Investigators then obtained a search warrant for Christensen's apartment, where they found a pair of shoes that allegedly match a bloody footprint found in Harlan's apartment. They also confiscated a pair of blood-stained jeans.
While it was clear something terrible had happened inside Harlan's apartment, police did not have a body, and both she and her vehicle were missing. In an effort to get Christensen off the streets while they continued their investigation, police took him into custody for failing to register as a sex offender. Prosecutors say he had a 1990 conviction in Oregon for first-degree sexual abuse.
"Christiansen has a well-documented criminal history of offending against former girlfriends," Matheson said. "He served jail time in the mid-'90s for taking a rifle shot at an ex-girlfriend he claimed had been cheating on him."
The shooting incident Matheson refers to occurred in 1994, when Christiansen stood at a Seattle bus stop and shot at a former girlfriend and her friend. Christiansen missed, and the two escaped without injury.
Police said Christiansen later told them, "People shoot people where I come from and a girlfriend cheats on you." He also said, "I missed because the sights to the rifle were off," according to court documents.
As a result of the incident, Christensen was convicted of two counts of first-degree domestic violence and assault. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and was released in August 2006.
When questioned about Harlan's disappearance, Christensen told police he had not seen her since Jan. 2. He did, however, admit to having an argument with her regarding the broken blood oath.
"He described the oath as a ceremony where you promise to do various things or not do various things and you seal the deal by pricking a finger, getting some blood and burning that in some incense," Matheson said. "That blood is part of sealing the deal. They do their various incantations, make the oath and purify the circle. According to Christensen, back in ancient times, if you break the blood oath, the penalty for that could be death."
Christensen allegedly said that he discovered Harlan had broken the oath when he found a text message on her phone from the guy she had agreed to break off contact with. The transgression, Christensen told police, made her a "'warlock,' literally an evil traitor."
The investigation into Harlan's disappearance took a surprising turn in the days following Christensen's arrest, when a friend of his came forward and told police that he had driven Christensen around Snohomish County so he could dispose of Harlan's remains.
"On the day or days following the homicide, Christiansen apparently dismembered the body and then dumped body parts at various parts of the county," Matheson said.
According to Matheson, body parts were recovered at several places around a gravel pit east of Gold Bar. Some had been buried in the ground; others had been left on the surface.
"As far as I can tell at this moment, the dismemberment appeared to be an effort to aid in disposal of the body," Matheson said. "I have not found, in any of the literature I have read about the Wiccan religion, that it is connected to that in any way."
Matheson has not admitted to killing Harlan; however, the evidence against him was sufficient for prosecutors to charge him with first-degree murder.
Christiansen's statements to police and his alleged association with the Wiccan religion have caused an uproar within the Wiccan community.
"First of all, in order to nullify this man's association or affiliation with Wicca or witchcraft in general, no denominations belonging to either category advocate the practice of violence to animal or human for any reason whatsoever," Peter Stephen Moore, a former Wiccan and current Thelemic Witch from Pennsylvania, told AOL News. "The main tenet of Wicca is called the Wiccan Rede. It is this: 'An' it harm none, do what thou wilt.' It basically means so long as no one is harmed through your actions, the pursuit of your will (destiny, purpose, dharma) is encouraged. There are no extenuating circumstances or rationalizations to this rule. Modern Wiccans do not believe in acts of vengeance or in engaging in any activity that would impede another's actions."
Moore also found a problem with the blood oath Christiansen described.
"There are oaths taken in both witchcraft and ceremonial magical traditions, but there are no oaths in Wicca involving blood that I am aware of. And even assuming there are, no Wiccan would advocate the type of oath he's claiming she took," Moore said. "Wiccans do not believe in the binding of one's love 'till death do us part.' Any taking of such blood oaths as he describes was most likely taken only to pacify his insecurities. He allegedly dismembered the body in an attempt to conceal his alleged crime. Now he chooses a minority religion, whose beliefs and principles are not universally known and understood, to be a scapegoat for his emotional insecurities and their resulting selfish brutalities."
Pat Brown, world-renowned criminal profiler and founder of patbrownprofiling.com, agrees with Moore.
"Christiansen is no different than any other guy who got jilted and wants to make his ex pay the price," Brown said. "He found a justification, a version of 'The b---- made me do it' because she violated her religious vow to him of remaining true to him, to be his one and only."

Polish Priest Measures Parishioners' Piety With Fingerprint Scanner
by Caleb Johnson — Feb 1st 2010 at 5:50PM
Share Aside from the Good Lord, parishioners at a Catholic church in Poland will soon have another seemingly omnipresent being making sure they attend mass: technology. According to Reuters, father Grzegorz Sowa recently installed in his church an electronic fingerprint scanner that keeps track of how often schoolchildren attend mass. If a student attends mass 200 times over a three-year period, he or she doesn't have to pass an exam before confirmation.
Formerly, the kids would have to get the priest to sign a sheet of paper that said they'd been present at mass. Now, they'll simply press their finger to a screen and be on their way, saving both priest and parishioner time. "This is comfortable. We don't have to stand in a line to get the priest's signature [confirming our presence at the mass] in our confirmation notebooks," said a student named Karolina.
While the Catholic Church still hasn't totally embraced technology, recent years have seen it become a little more open. Pope Benedict XVI even said he's cool with Facebook and MySpace, sorta. Hey, it's all about baby steps -- tiny, tiny baby steps. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day, and, for that matter, neither was the Vatican. [From: Reuters]

The Straight Hair Pill

What would you do for straight hair?
Some of us use chemicals or heat. Some of us buy hair and have it sewn or glued onto our heads. And soon, there may be yet another option for those who desire the straight look.
From The Daily Mail:
"Researchers in Australia identified the trichohyalin gene as being mainly responsible for creating curls. Although it was known to play a role in the development of the hair follicle, Queensland Institute of Medical Research scientists have discovered its role in curliness.
Professor Nick Martin, author of the research, said a variation in the gene determined the straightness or curliness of hair. Professor Martin said it may be possible to come up with treatments to make hair straighter rather than relying on heated hair straighteners.
He said: 'Potentially we can now develop new treatments to make hair curlier or straighter, rather than treating the hair directly."
That is straight outta the Jetsons, am I right?
But the advent of a possible straight hair pill also raises all kinds of questions, some of which are addressed by the Black Snob:
"I don't even want to know what the side-effects of this puppy would be. I have a fear of going bald and if ANYTHING sounds like it could make you bald a pill that makes your curly hair straight sounds like one. But what's fascinating (and sad, kinda) to me, is that if this pill is created and works with side effects someone can live with (like say, dry mouth), how long do you think before black beauty salons across the nation would be closing up shop? The perm is the bread-n-butter of most beauticians. You can charge tons for it and you get that repeat customer business coming back every four-to-six weeks. If you customer can just pop and pill and get the straight hair she's always dreamed of won't she just drop you? Folks HATE going to the beauty shop anyway. It takes FOREVER. Your appointment is almost never the time you actually make it. This could be potentially devastation. I'm talking a beauty shop apocalypse!"
Valid point -- in a world where you can alter the texture of your hair by taking a pill, where does that leave the hair relaxer industry? What are the potential side effects of this medical breakthrough?
So inquiring minds want to know -- would YOU take a hair straightening pill? What potential side effects could possibly keep you away? How do you feel about this development in the beauty field?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 28, 2010
DISASTER DECLARED ON THE CHEYENNE RIVER SIOUX INDIAN RESERVATION IN SOUTH DAKOTA.
Severe Ice Storms and Freezing Tempratures Have Knocked Down 3,000 Utility Poles – Tribal Residents Have Been Without Electricity, Heat and Running Water
for Six Days.
Eagle Butte, South Dakota – The Chairman of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe has declared a State of Emergency in central South Dakota, an Indian reservation
approximately the size of Connecticut with nearly 15,000 Tribal members. The Tribe is still awaiting Presidential disaster declaration.
Days of ice storms and strong winds have downed over 3,000 utility poles across the reservation. Thousands of already impoverished tribal residents have been without electricity or heat for five days, with wind chill factors well below zero. Experts estimate it may be as long as a month before all areas have electricity restored.
“Making matters worse,” said Tribal Chairman Joe Brings Plenty, “the loss of electricity has also knocked out the Reservationʼs aging water system. We have no running water on the entire Reservation, it is also affecting of Reservation communities such as Faith, whose water is supplied from pipes running through the Reservation.”
The Tribe is working hard to bring families in, out of the cold and into shelters. The South Dakota National Guard, The Stateʼs Department of Public Safety as well as the Army Corps of Engineers have come to the reservation and supplied some emergency generators. The Tribe would especially like to thank Wal-Mart for providing emergency food and supplies, and the Navajo Nation for sending up a tribal utility crew to help with the downed electrical lines.
However, much more assistance is still needed. No one facility can host a shelter large enough for all the Tribal residents; additional generators are needed to set up additional shelters. The Tribeʼs one and only grocery store has lost all of its perishables; additional food is needed. Also, dialysis patients have had to be evacuated to Rapid City.
Donations Needed:
MEdical needs: Dialysis Patients/Glucose Strips/Financial Support for Hotels
* The dialysis patients have all been evacuated three hours away to
Rapid City, SD. They are staying in hotels for at least a week and half,
probably longer. The Tribe is looking into reimbursement sources from CMS
and IHS, but in the interim financial contributions are needed to help the
families pay for their hotel expenses and food. An account has been set up
at Wells Fargo to help with these expenses. You can contribute at any Wells
Fargo or send to the Rapid City branch.

Additional items are needed, especially for the communities whose
electricity is expected to be down for up to 30 days. Please forward to any
companies that manufacture these items that may be of assistance.

FINANCIAL DONATIONS:
The Tribe has depleted its emergency budget with the two blizzards that
already hit the reservation since December. It needs funds to help buy food
and supplies for the community and volunteers, to pay for gas and overtime
for the workers, to replace the motor at the water pump station that was
destroyed, etc. Any financial donations are much appreciated. The Tribe is
also trying to set up on-line donations but that may take some time.

I anticipate no one would show for coffee this Sunday either due to the ritual on Saturday or due to Superbowl preparations on Sunday. So I do not plan to attend myself this Sunday. If you still want to meet, it may be a good idea to post something here so people know of your interest and can confirm if they will meet up with you. Otherwise, I will see you all on Saturday!

With the economy the way it is and the job market being what it is I'm finding myself in a bit of a pickle, I either need to find employment or find a place to sell my herbal tea every day, obviously my passion is my tea.
I am asking for ideas or opportunities to get some money coming in, folks it's getting really bad and I need some help, I don't want money I just need some solid leads or a job, if any of you or someone you know has anything going on that I could do, please let me know and pass this on to anyone you know that can help.
The ideal situation for me would be a place to go each day and sell my tea be it a lot that someone owns in a good traffic area or inside a place of business or something like that.
Bright Blessings
Conner the herb guy :)

Pagan Living
From Patti Wigington, Your Guide to Paganism / Wiccan.
This week we're looking at a potential new twist in the way the court interpret the First Amendment, a multifaith family who is trying to keep heritage and custom alive, and the first ever Pagan worship circle at the Air Force Academy. There are some interesting updates to ongoing stories as well - James Arthur Ray is finally speaking about the Sedona sweat lodge tragedy (and not saying much at all), and the Rifqa Bary case takes an odd turn. Have a magical week and a blessed Imbolc (or Lughnasadh, if you're in the Southern Hemishphere), and watch for Friday's special edition of the newsletter, where we'll talk about your rights as a Pagan or Wiccan.
Are Some Faiths More Equal Than Others?
Monday February 1, 2010
Some interesting stuff is brewing on the Constitutional horizon. Pagan chaplain Patrick McCollum has been embroiled in a lawsuit filed in hopes of gaining equal standing for Pagan chaplains in the California prison system. Currently, California has a "five faiths" rule -- if you're a pastor who's Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim or Native American you can have a staff position but otherwise you're out of luck. At any rate, last week an amicus brief was filed by a group called Wallbuilders, which is asking the court to say that McCollum's suit has no merit at all, because the First Amendment applies only to monotheistic religions like Christianity, so a suit filed by Pagans should have no standing.
Wallbuilders, which is represented by the National Legal Foundation, argues, "Christianity is the only religion that should be protected under the Constitution or at the very most other monotheistic religions might also be included." In other words, according to these guys, Paganism or any other polytheistic faith isn't really a religion, and therefore First Amendment rights don't apply.
Over at the Wild Hunt, Jason Pitzl-Waters has links to the entire complaint, as well as a number of other related documents. While some of it is fairly lengthy and full of legalese, it's important to recognize that McCollum's suit isn't just some frivolous Pagan footstomping. It's indicative of the rampant "Dominant Religion Lens" that is inherent in the prison system and a number of other institutions.
Meanwhile, in a press release, Cherry Hill Seminary has said, "We stand by our faculty member, Rev. McCollum, in full support of his brave fight for religious liberty for all in this country."
Cherry Hill's Executive Director, Holli Emore, said, "Pagan religions have always existed alongside Christianity, as well as throughout human history and around the world... The many religious groups and leaders who joined Cherry Hill in signing an amicus understand that we live in a plural society. Indeed, this is one of the strengths of our country, not something to deny or oppose." James Arthur Ray Speaks About Sweat Lodge
More than two months after people climbed into his sweat lodge and died, self-help guide James Arthur Ray is finally speaking to the press. He says he "feels horrible" about what happened, but still hasn't taken any responsibility for the tragedy, and his legal advisors continue to maintain that he was not criminally negligent. Ray claims that he had no idea... Read more
Family Helps Keep Heritage Alive
Thursday January 28, 2010
Thanks to Cats for sending in this one -- this is a nifty piece from the Chicago Tribune, profiling Peter and Paula Fitzgibbons and their multicultural family. Their two older children, Odeline and Sevvy, were adopted from Haiti seven years ago. Following the recent earthquake, Peter and Paula fear that their children may have no surviving biological relatives. However, the couple has tried to raise the children in a way that respects the culture of their birth, and so Odeline, Sevvy, and their little sister Isa "stand before an altar with their parents, light candles and call upon Papa Legba, the Vodou spirit and gatekeeper who admits other spirits into the sacred circle to hear the family's prayers."
Peter and Paula Fitzgibbons are Christians, but have always helped their kids celebrate Haiti's Vodou heritage as part of maintaining a connection to their birthplace. Paula, who is a former Lutheran pastor, says, "I'm at least presenting them with some part of their spiritual heritage. I can offer them enough that they will be familiar with Vodou when they get to the point of making their own choices about spirituality and religion."
In the days since the earthquake, Sevvy says he and Odeline believe their biological family can feel their prayers.
This is a great article about family, heritage, and how families who love one another can make different beliefs co-exist together. Paula says that right now it's hard to look at the photos of the devastation in Haiti, but, "We can stress the spiritual unity and the spiritual strength of their ancestors... We can teach them how incredibly strong and clever and resilient the people in their country are."

New Twist in Case of Muslim Teen
Family Helps Keep Heritage AliveNew Twist in Case of Muslim Teen
So, we've been following the case of Muslim teenager Rifqa Bary for a while. A few folks have asked, "What does this have to do with us when she's not Pagan or Wiccan?" Well, no, she's not, but it's an interesting case to keep an eye on when it comes to the perception of religion in this country. For those of you who are unaware, Bary is (a) an underage child who (b) met a pastor on Facebook who then (c) helped her run away from home (d) and then hid her from authorities for two weeks. Once she was found, she claimed that her father had...Read More
