Calling Performers of All Ages!  Sign up now to participate in Circle Sanctuary's Winter Solstice Pageant, Friday, December 20, 2013 at the First Unitarian Society in Madison, Wisconsin.  We are seeking actors, musicians, performers and others with theatrical skills to help bring to life the stories of the season.
Email Florence by November 20 if you are interested in participating.

At Yuletide and throughout the year, Circle Sanctuary sends care packages with Pagan books, magazines, CDs, and other spiritual resources to Pagans on active duty who are currently serving overseas.
You can help this effort by sending us donations of new and nearly new items as well as funds to cover air mail postage.

Visit Circle Sanctuary
Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve, located near Barneveld, Wisconsin, contains 200 acres trails, springs, wetland, sacred sites, and Circle Cemetery.  Previously, the Nature Preserve was open to visitors only by prearrangement and at Circle Sanctuary festivals, events and volunteer days.  
Now, Circle Sanctuary is pleased to announce a pilot program for increased visits.  
Beginning in November 2013 the land will be open on select days for self-guided hikes, meditation, Cemetery visits, and personal devotion.  Circle Sanctuary Staff will offer pre-scheduled walking tours of Circle Sanctuary's sacred sites, natural habitats or Cemetery.  Also, Circle Sanctuary's Owl's Nest shop will be open to visitors for limited hours.
For the first two months of this new program, visiting hours will be as follows:
  • Monday, November 11, 11am-3pm  - Special Veterans Day Visiting Hours - Circle Cemetery will be open for those wishing to pay honor to deceased Veterans.  No tour.
  • Wednesday, November 13, Visiting hours Noon-4pm.  Tour 1pm. Owl's Nest Open 3-4pm.
  • Wednesday, November 20, Visiting hours Noon-4pm.  Tour 1pm. Owl's Nest Open 3-4pm.
  • Wednesday, December 4, Visiting hours Noon-4pm.  Tour 1pm. Owl's Nest Open 3-4pm.
  • Saturday, December 14, Happy Holidays Yuletide Open House 12-4.  Owl's Nest 1-4.  No tour.

Hey Smart Witch: Do you even have children? I'm starting to wonder and I don't even know you. I think a lot of your posts are b*******.

The Smart Witch: What an odd question, since this page isn't about raising children, parenthood or any related topic, but about sharing the things that interest and inspire me. 

To answer your question, I have no children - at least not of the two-legged variety. Would it make you happy to know that I've lost three? Or would you like to further disparage me to learn that I'm childless by choice?

I've noted your numerous other rude, scornful and abusive comments - for which I'm banning you, by the way - and I have to wonder, why you are here. You're obviously not receptive to anything I have to share.

To my friends here, I regret the negativity this troll brought to multiple posts on this sacred space. My thanks to those who responded kindly to her.

For all those who do have children, here is a sweet, simple Pagan prayer I like:

I love the Earth so big and round
I love the sky and sea and ground
I love the birds and dogs and cats
I love the wolves and bears and bats

In Roman religion and myth, Pan's counterpart was Faunus. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Pan became a significant figure in the Romantic movement of western Europe, and also in the 20th-century Neo-Pagan movement.

The worship of Pan began in Arcadia which was always the principal seat of his worship. Arcadia was a district of mountain people whom other Greeks disdained. Greek hunters used to scourge the statue of the god if they had been disappointed in the chase.

Being a rustic god, Pan was not worshipped in temples or other constructed edifices, but in natural settings. He usually was worshipped in caves or grottoes such as the one on the north slope of the Acropolis of Athens. The only exception is the temple of Pan on the Neda River gorge, in southwestern Peloponnese, the ruins of which survive to this day.

Pan is famous for his sexual powers. His greatest conquest was that of the moon goddess Selene. He accomplished this by wrapping himself in a sheepskin to hide his hairy black goat form, and drew her down from the sky into the forest where he seduced her.

In 1933, the Egyptologist Margaret Murray published the book, The God of the Witches, in which she theorised that Pan was merely one form of a horned god who was worshipped across Europe by a witch-cult. This theory influenced the Neo-Pagan notion of the Horned God as an archetype of male virility and sexuality.

Starfish have suffered from the syndrome on and off for decades but have usually been reported in small numbers, isolated to Southern California and linked to a rise in seawater temperatures, which is not the case this time, Raimondi said.

Since June, wasting sea stars have been found in dozens of coastal sites ranging from southeast Alaska to Orange County, California, and the mortality rates have been higher than ever seen before, Raimondi said. In one surveyed tide pool in Santa Cruz during the current outbreak, 90 to 95 percent of hundreds of starfish were killed by the disease.'

    I am a huge snow-globe collector and I have this one snow-globe that reminds me of Odin - it's of Santa Claus, sitting in the woods and he has all the woodland creatures around him but he is aged and loving and ancient feeling. Here is a picture that closely resembles him on my snow-globe.

    This year, I want to create an advent calendar that teaches something on each day - a meditation, a prayer, a song, a craft, etc. along with some kind of goodie to help decorate her alter. I found this easy craft that does not require anything special except things you can find around your home - instead of scrapbook paper you can use construction paper.
