"Magic is another word that makes people uneasy, so I use it deliberately, because words they are comfortable with, the words that sound acceptable, rational, scientific, and intellectually sound, are comfortable precisely because they are the language of estrangement." -Starhawk
1. We practice rites to attune ourselves with the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the Moon and the seasonal Quarters and Cross Quarters.

2. We recognize that our intelligence gives us a unique responsibility toward our environment. We seek to live in harmony with nature in ecological balance offering fulfillment to life and consciousness within an evolutionary concept.

3. We acknowledge a depth of power far greater than that apparent to the average person. Because it is far greater than ordinary it is sometimes called ‘supernatural’, but we see it as lying within that which is naturally potential to all.

4. We conceive of the Creative Power in the universe as manifesting through polarity – as masculine and feminine – and that this same Creative Power lies in all people and functions through the interaction of the masculine and the feminine. We value neither above the other knowing each to be supportive of the other. We value sex as pleasure as the symbol and embodiment of life, and as one of the sources of energy used in magical practice and religious worship.

5. We recognize both outer worlds and inner, or psychological worlds sometimes known as the Spiritual World, the Collective Unconsciousness, the Inner Planes etc – and we see in the interaction of these two dimensions the basis for paranormal phenomena and magical exercises. We neglect neither dimension for the other, seeing both as necessary for our fulfillment.

6. We do not recognize any authoritarian hierarchy, but do honor those who teach, respect those who share their greater knowledge and wisdom, and acknowledge those who have courageously given of themselves in leadership.

7. We see religion, magick and wisdom in living as being united in the way one views the world and lives within it – a world view and philosophy of life which we identify as Witchcraft – the Wiccan Way.

8. Calling oneself ‘Witch’ does not make a Witch – but neither does heredity itself, nor the collecting of titles, degrees and initiations. A Witch seek to control the forces within her/himself that make life possible in order to live wisely and without harm to others and in harmony with nature.

9. We believe in the affirmation and fulfillment of life in a continuation of evolution and development of consciousness giving meaning to the Universe we know and our personal role within it.

10.Our only animosity towards Christianity, or towards any other religion or philosophy of life, is to the extent that its institutions have claimed to be ‘the only way’ and have sought to deny freedom to others and to suppress other ways of religious practice and belief.

* 11. As Witches, we are not threatened by debates on the history of the craft, the origins of various terms, the legitimacy of various aspects of different traditions. We are concerned with our present and our future.

12.We do not accept the concept of absolute evil, nor do we worship any entity known as ‘Satan’ or ‘the Devil’ as defined by Christian tradition. We do not seek power through the suffering of others, nor accept that personal benefit can be derived only by denial to another.

13.We believe that we should seek within Nature that which is contributory to our health and well-being.

Pertaining to # 11 ( it started out stating " American" Witches ) I have changed this to fit those on this page.

Blessed Be ♥

~ SAMHAIN NEW MOON PUMPKIN SPELL ~

Samhain will be here before we know it - this is a nice spell to jot down for use later!

(Spell/photo courtesy of Kelly at http://darkmoontarot.tumblr.com/post/11583565729/samhain-new-moon-pumpkin-spell-samhain-october)

Samhain (October 31st) is the Witches New Year and mixed with a New Moon, it is an excellent time to set your intentions for new beginnings, a new job, or new love. As the Wheel of the Year turns and Samhain inches closer, you can harness the powerful energies of the New Moon just before Samhain to manifest what you truly desire or which remains unseen. This is a spell of mine that I do almost every October. It’s helped me manifest some wonderful things, so I wanted to share it with everyone here.
~ Caribbean Pumpkin Money Spell ~

* You will need:

A small sugar pumpkin or Caribbean yellow pumpkin
Sacred/Blessing Water
Honey
5 Shiny Pennies
Paper Bag from the Grocery Store

I have seen versions of this spell done by practitioners of Obeah and Santeria, two beautiful Caribbean regions. This spell invokes the aid of Ochun, the Yoruba goddess of love, money and sweetness who is closely associated with Our Lady of Charity, the patroness of Cuba. This simple ritual can confer wealth, attract good luck and even bring about marriage.

First remove the top from the pumpkin and scoop out the insides as if you were carving a jack-o-lantern. Next, cut a square of brown paper from the grocery store bag and write you wishes, desires and petitions on it. Place the paper inside the pumpkin. Next toss in the 5 pennies and drizzle honey inside as well. Lastly, sprinkle five drops of Holy Water into the pumpkin and replace the top. Take the pumpkin to a river and toss it in. Then wait for Ochun to work her sweet magic in your life!

~ The Eightfold Path ~

(By: Lady Sheba, excerpt from "The Grimoire of Lady Sheba" -http://www.llewellyn.com/product_excerpt.php?ean=9780875420769&excerpt_id=1596)

The Eightfold Path has never been published openly before. Without this knowledge you cannot work the Arts Magickal, since the Eightfold Path to the Center is the basic essential in all the workings of the Craft.

The First Path
Intention and concentration of intent. Mental imagery or visualization. Meditation.

The Second Path
Rising upon the planes. Using the many Trance States, better known today as "altered states of consciousness." Projection of the Astral Body.

The Third Path
The Keys: rites, rituals, chants, spell-casting, runes, charms, amulets, talismans, the magick link.

The Fourth Path
The correct and controlled use of drugs (hemp, kat, mushrooms, etc.), ritual wines, whiskey (known as "the elixir of life"), and incense.

The Fifth Path
The dance and kindred practices to raise the fiery cone of power.

The Sixth Path
Warricking, blood control by use of the Cords, breath control, and kindred practices.

The Seventh Path
The ancient rite of scourging to purify.

The Eighth Path
The great rite, the spiritual union as well as the physical union of male and female to create life. Sex Magick.

Comment: The five essentials for the working of the Eightfold Path are Intention, Preparation, the Magick Circle, Self-purification, and the Consecrated Tools.

To me the Intention of the Wise One is the most important feature of the Eightfold Path. You must know beyond any shadow of a doubt that you can and will succeed. This is the absolute essential of every operation of magick or religious worship.

Preparation: You must be properly prepared for the work you are doing according to the rules of the Art, and you must take note of the cosmic laws and the planetary times. All ritual preparation must be observed or you cannot work the Arts Magickal.

The Magick Circle, our temple between the realm of the Gods and the world of man, must be properly formed, consecrated, and purified.

Self-Purification, cleanliness of body and mind. You must be prepared and purified according to the rules of the Art. If a rite should be of long duration, lasting through a Moon and Sun, then the Circle and the operator must be purified often through the night and the day.

All of your holy altar tools must be properly constructed, purified, and consecrated to the God/Goddess. Keep your tools highly charged with power. This can be done by recharging in the Magick Circle with the Dance, by concentration, or as I personally do, by sleeping with my Magick Knife, feeding it constantly.

There are many ways of using the Eightfold Path and the five essentials to gain the Center. The Center is the union with the God/Goddess, the source and sustainer of our being.

All of the Paths do not combine well together; but many of the Paths can be combined to bring faster and more powerful results. Each person must work out his own best combinations.

The First Path, intention and concentration of intent, is essential in all workings. It combines easily with all the other paths and leads to the Second Path, the union of the operator with the evoked Entity.

The Fourth Path is a very powerful way to the Center. The aids quickly unlock the inner eye and swiftly release the spirit from its physical prison. Therefore, "Judge Ye wisely with whom Ye will choose to tread the Pathways to Wisdom, for Ye must accompany them until they stand in the Divine Light of the Center." This knowledge must not be taught to fools.

Medieval Witchcraft - the Hammer of Witches
What led to the hysteria surrounding Medieval witchcraft? The bad press given to Medieval Witchcraft can be attributed to just one book. In 1486 Malleus Maleficarum (The Hammer of Witches) was published by two Dominican inquisitors vividly describing the satanic and sexual abominations of witches and witchcraft. The medieval period had witnesses terrible wars, famine and disease. People were looking for a reason. People wanted scapegoats - someone to blame. In 1521 Pope Leo X issued a Bull ensuring that the Religious Courts of the Inquisition would execute all those convicted of Witchcraft. The persecution of witches and the abomination of anything to do with Medieval witchcraft had been given the blessing of the Christian church.
The Wiccan Rede

Bide ye Wiccan laws ye must,

in perfect love and perfect trust.

Live and let live, fairly take and fairly give.

Form the circle thrice about, to keep all evil spirits out.

To bind ye spell every time, let ye spell be spake in rhyme.

Soft of eye, light of touch, speak ye little, listen much.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, singing out ye Witches’ Rune.

Widdershins go by the waning moon, chanting out ye Baneful Rune.

When the Lady’s moon is new, kiss your hand to her times two.

When the moon rides at her peak, then ye heart’s desire seek.

Heed the North wind’s mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss thee on the mouth.

When the wind blows from the West, departed souls may have no rest.

When the wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

Nine woods in ye cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.

Elder be ye Lady’s tree, burn it not or cursed ye’ll be.

When the wheel begins to turn, soon ye Beltaine fire’ll burn.

When the wheel hath turned to Yule, light the log the Horned One rules.

Heed ye flower, bush and tree, by the Lady blessed be.

Where the rippling waters flow, cast a stone and truth ye’ll know.

When ye have and hold a need, harken not to other's greed.

With a fool no season spend, nor be counted as his friend.

Merry meet and merry part, bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind ye threefold law ye should, three times bad and three times good.

When misfortune is anow, wear the blue star upon thy brow.

True in love ye must ever be, lest thy love be false to thee.

In these eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill,

‘An ye harm none, do what ye will.

With much love and Light ♥

The Witches Rede of Chivalry

Read on:

Taken from the “Magical Rites of the Crystal Well"
Authored by Ed Fitch in 1984 – (Llewellyn Publications 2000)http://www.amazon.com/Magical-Crystal-Llewellyns-Practical-Magick/dp/0875422306/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349639779&sr=8-1&keywords=magical+rites+from+the+crystal+well

In so far as the Craft of the Wise is the most ancient and most honorable creed of humankind, it behooves all who are Witches to act in ways that give respect to the Old Gods, to their sisters and brothers of the craft, and to themselves. Therefore, be it noted that:

1. Chivalry is a high code of honour, which is of most ancient Pagan origin and must be lived by all who follow the Old Ways.

2. It must be kenned that thoughts and intent put forth on this Middle-Earth will wax strong in other worlds beyond, and return… bringing into creation, on this world, that which has been set forth. Thus one should exercise discipline, for “as ye do plant, so shall ye harvest.

3. It is only by preparing our minds to be as Gods that we can ultimately attain godhead.

4. “This above all…to thine own self be true…”

5. A Witch’s word must have the validity of a signed and witnessed oath. Thus, give thy word sparingly, but adhere to it like iron.

6. Refrain from speaking ill of others, for not all truths of the matter may be known.

7. Pass not unverified words about another, for hearsay is, in large part, a thing of falsehood.

8. Be thou honest with others, and have them know that honesty is likewise expected of them.

9. The fury of the moment plays folly with the truth; to keeps one’s head is a virtue.

10. Contemplate always the consequences of thine acts upon others. Strive not to harm.

11. Diverse covens may well have diverse views on love between members and with others. When a coven, clan, or grove is visited or joined, one should discern quietly their practices, and abide thereby.

12. Dignity, a gracious manner, and a good humour are much to be admired.

13. As a Witch, thou hast power, and thy powers wax strongly as wisdom increases. Therefore exercise discretion in the use thereof.

14. Courage and honour endure forever. Their echoes remain when the mountains have crumbled to dust.

15. Pledge friendship and fealty to those who so warrant. Strengthen others by the Brethren and they shall strengthen thee.

16. Thou shalt not reveal the secrets of another Witch or another Coven. Others have laboured long and hard for them, and cherish them as treasures.

17. Though there may be differences between those of the Old Ways, those who are once-born must see nothing, and must hear nothing.

18. Those who follow the mysteries should be above reproach in the eyes of the world.

19. The laws of the land should be obeyed whenever possible and within reason, for in the main they have been chosen with wisdom.

20. Have pride in thyself, and seek perfection in body and in mind. For the Lady has said, “How canst thou honour another unless thou gives honour to thyself first?”

21. Those who seek the mysteries should consider themselves as select of the Gods, for it is they who lead the race of humankind to the highest throne and beyond the very stars.

‎~ The Circle ~

I've been here for a million years
through the joy, through the tears
but when I'm gone this will go on
and the circle starts again.

I've watched the mountains rise from dust
Saw the gold return to rust,
I had cried when the oceans died,
and the circle starts again.

I was here when the world began to turn
Kissed the sun as it started to burn,
The whispering at the reckoning
said: "The Circle starts again"

The moon was rising from above
I caught her eye and thought it was love,
but she turned her back,
the sky went black,
and the circle starts again..

I dance through castles made of stone
Walked the desert sands alone
In the midnight hour, You feel the power
and the circle starts again.

Now question falls to you my friend:
No beginning has no end,
will we ever learn?
will the world still turn?
will the circle start again?

Although all Esbats are a sacred time, there are a few full moons out of the year that are especially important. One of these is the October moon, sometimes referred to as the Harvest Moon (which actually takes place in September) but most accurately the Blood Moon. Different traditions and cultures have a variety of names for each moon but the Blood Moon refers to the final harvest: not in fact, an agricultural harvest, but that of the last meat of the year before winter returns. Appropriate, of course, as Samhain is the final harvest festival.

You can, of course, interpret the Blood Moon many ways however. You might take it literally and spend the day mixing your own sausage (easier than it sounds actually – Martha Stewart had a great article in this month’s magazine) or preparing items for simple winter meals such as stew, chili or tomato meat sauce.

You could take it to mean familial blood and perform a ritual to honor your ancestors (there
will be more on this later in the month as Samhain is very much a celebration of those passed on.) In the same vein, you could do a protection rite for your home and family or simply share a meal together. As the mother aspect of the moon’s cycle, the full phase is always a great time for family-centered rituals anyway.

Or, you could simply choose to do a harvest/Samhain version of the Simple Full Moon Ritual (http://witchofhowlingcreek.wordpress.com/2011/08/11/simple-full-moon-ritual/), easily achieved just by changing up a few of the components. You might, for example, use a red candle instead of a white one, enjoy Gingered Chocolate or gingersnaps instead of dark chocolate and sip apple cider instead of tea.

I am posting two spells to help release Anger or Rage: Read on..

# 1.Get Rid of Anger Spell

You Will Need:

This spell needs to be done alongside flowing water - in a private corner surrounded by bushes at the side of a stream. You will also need a black stone

Procedure

Create your circle. Cup a black stone in your hands and raise it to your forehead, concentrate and send all your anger into the stone. Do this for as long as you can until you can do it no longer, then hurl the stone with all your might into the water and say:

"With this stone
Anger be gone
Water bind it
No-one find it!"

Place your palms upon the earth for a few moments to ground the power and allow your circle to fade. Now go home and take care of yourself for you may feel depleted for a while, but you will be better soon. Alternatively, you may feel great straight away.

#2. A Ritual for Releasing Anger

Most forms of abuse result in powerful feelings of anger or rage, which must be expressed in a safe, positive fashion if it is not to either destroy you or others. I'd like to present an alternate method of dealing with the anger through a ritual--allowing you to purge the energy safely and then let it go.

For this ritual, you will need some quiet time, a red candle, a black or a white candle, paper and writing implements, a container in which to burn paper, and matches. Any other symbols, magickal gear, or accoutrements you wish to bring to the ritual are yours to choose; I'm just presenting the bare bones.

Once you have gathered your stuff and set up your quiet space, you will want to call in a circle to protect yourself, and to protect others from the energies you plan to release.

Face the east, and call upon the air to help you express your rage clearly, to help you focus mentally while you release your emotions safely within the circle.

Face the south, and call upon fire to help your rage burn up and out of you, burning away the past and the trauma that has enraged you.

Face the west, and call upon the water to help your emotions flow freely within the circle, cleansing your spirit and restoring yourself.

Face the north, and call upon the earth to allow you to safely ground your rage, and to sustain and support your through the releasing process. As you call in the directions, visualize a circle of white light forming around your working space, shielding you and protecting you with the elements you've called in.

(I have sometimes found that it also helps to call upon the archangels to further strengthen the circle--Raphael for east, Michael for south, Gabriel for west, and Uriel for north--if your beliefs trend that way.)

Then when you feel the circle is secure, call upon the Higher Powers in whatever form you relate to them to work with you and shield you through the course of the ritual.

Now, light the red candle. By its light, begin to write or draw what it is that is enraging you, whether it be some form of emotional abuse that trashed your worth as a person, sexual abuse that made you into an object, physical abuse that broke your body's connection with your mind, or whatever. Focus on making the issues clear to yourself and the Higher Powers that you've called in. Focus on how the actions made *you* feel, not on the other person's guilt or motivations, or on revenge on the other person. (You can do this part ahead of time, if you want. I wrote a long letter to my mother explaining exactly what I remembered and felt out of our abusive relationship, being careful to keep it in "I-statements" and not start blaming her. Blame may be necessary for some folks, but until you release the rage within, I feel that you cannot assess blame rationally and safely.)

Next, hold the paper between your hands, focus your awareness on the red candle, and begin to chant, shout, scream, or make whatever sounds help you to feel the rage come up and leave you. Send the rage into the red candle. Focus your rage on the red candle, watching the flames burn brighter and hotter as the force of your anger fuels them. When you feel that you've released the red rage as much as you can, light the papers on which you've drawn or written your problem and drop them into the container so they can burn out. (Do remember to put something under the container to protect the surface it rests on--we did this ritual as a group a couple of years ago and caught the carpet on fire.)

After the papers have begun to burn down, light the black or white candle. (The choice of color depends on how you wish to focus on restoring yourself--black represents the energy of transformation and white represents an energy of peace and purification.) Focus on what you'd like to replace the rage with--peace, self-esteem, happiness, or whatever. Let the energy of the new emotions fill you up. Write or draw on a new piece of paper those things that you want to find in yourself and your life now that you've released the poisonous rage that was holding you back. You could even take the ashes from the burnt paper and write the name of the emotion on a new piece of paper to help you focus. Feel the healing begin.

When you are comfortably calm again, release the energy of the circle. Visualize it sinking back into the earth as you thank the elements at each direction for watching over you. Thank the Higher Powers for their insight and help. Let the candles burn completely out.

May you find this ritual to be as healing for you as I found it to be, if anything bad happened to you in childhood or since like rape or abuse etc it is NOT your fault so do not let your abuser win. Let go of it and move on -get counseling if it will help. This ritual can also help those locked in feelings. You might want to add some of your own words..

Getting regular exorcise also helps reduce the feelings of uncontrollable anger as well as meditation..

‎'The case for a married Jesus may be far from definitive, but the reaction of conservative Christian commentators should give us pause. It is precisely the same reaction that the arbiters of orthodoxy have had since the beginnings of time: dismiss competing perspectives; ignore or –when possible -- destroy contradictory evidence; denigrate and marginalize dissenters (aka heretics). It is the same reaction that conservative Christians have had to archaeological and scientific findings that call any of their prized beliefs into question. Indeed, this reaction—played out through millennia—may explain why so little evidence for a wife of Jesus exists.'
