~ Black Cat Candy Jars ~ (Info/photo courtesy of All You Magazine - http://www.allyou.com/budget-home/crafts/black-cat-candy-jars-00411000075279/) * You’ll need: • Acrylic craft paint in black • Medium to large round paintbrush • 3 mini pumpkins • Scissors • Plain white paper • 1 sheet each black and orange lightweight cardboard or card stock • Craft glue • 3 pairs of 15 millimeter cat eyes (suncatchereyes.com) or 3 pairs googly eyes • Sewing needle • White floral wire • White marker • 1/8"-wide ribbon, 2' long • ½"-wide ribbon, 1 yard long • 3 glass jars with mouths slightly smaller in diameter than pumpkins, clean and dry • Halloween candy 1. Paint pumpkins black except for stems and bottoms; let dry. Paint bottoms; let dry. 2. FOR EARS: Make a template by cutting a triangle, about 1" tall, out of plain white paper. Contour bottom edge of triangle so it fits along curve of pumpkin. When you achieve a shape you like, use template to cut 6 identical shapes out of black construction paper or card stock. Make a template for orange inner ear by trimming edges of white template down until it's slightly smaller all around than black triangles. Place template on orange construction paper or card stock and trace around it; cut out 6 triangles. Glue orange triangles to black triangles. To glue ears to head, make a bead of glue along curved edge of ears and attach to top of pumpkins on sides of stem. 3. Position cat eyes on pumpkins and press eye stems into pumpkins to attach. If using googly eyes, glue in place. 4. FOR NOSE: Cut three triangles, about 3/8" tall, from orange cardboard or card stock. Glue an inverted triangle to each face. 5. FOR WHISKERS: Poke 3 holes in pumpkin on each side of nose with a sewing needle and insert a 2" length of white floral wire into each hole. Repeat for each pumpkin. Trim and crinkle whiskers as desired. 6. Draw an inverted V on each face for a mouth, using white marker. Cut 3 lengths of 1/8"-wide ribbon. Tie bow around each stem. 7. Wrap ½"-wide ribbon around top of jars; glue in place. Fill with candy; set kitty heads on top. * Take a shortcut: Just set these kitties on inverted tea cups instead of candy-filled jars. ~ Leandra *The Coven Avalon claims no rights to this artwork, or any on our page. This is the Candle Magick book I have and I love it. I'm not sure where it is right now...probably packed away in my parent's attic wit hthe rest of my stuff...but there are some really good spells and techniques in the book.

DIY Natural Room Scents Throw out all those canned room sprays and make your own natural and safe room scents using simmering waters infused with spices, herbs & fruit. Fragrant items for naturally scenting your home: Citrus - I've tried other fruits. Some of them smell good initially, but they don't hold up for more than one use. Citrus is sturdier, longer-lasting, and gives these scent recipes freshness. Lemons and oranges are particularly fragrant and have the best staying power in these scented waters. Herbs - Any herb can be used for making a room scent, but the ones that are sturdier and on woody twigs hold up the best. My favorites for room scents are rosemary and thyme. Pine or Cedar Twigs/Needles -- There may be other fragrant trees that will work, too; pine and cedar are the two I've tried for their appealing, fresh fragrance. Extracts -- A touch of vanilla or almond extract improves most room fragrance mixtures. Mint extract has a nice fresh scent. Spices - You can use ground or whole sweet spices. The whole spices look prettier, if your scented water will be in a location where it will be seen. I have found that cinnamon sticks and whole cloves have the most scent staying power. Cinnamon sticks can be rinsed off and reused several times. - http://bit.ly/fxV3UP

Get a ball of green cord or yarn and wind it around your "nest egg" of scullcap and oil, winding until the herb is completely covered and secure. Tie the cord so that the ball will not unwind and hang above the doorway. All those who enter will become possessed with an unreasonable desire to bring gifts and money to your home. Anoint the ball every seventh day with a few drops of the oil to preserve it's powers.

Mabon Recipe! Apple Dump Cake <3 This is a great recipe to do with your Witchlets! Since this is also the Harvest of Apples, why not make an Apple Dump Cake for dessert? You don't even need to use an oven since you can cook it in a crock pot! Get out the crockpot or slow cooker and use your clean fingers to grease the sides and bottom real good with a dab of butter.. Dump in 2 cans of apple pie filling. Dump in a box of spice cake mix. You can spread it out some DON'T stir it or mix the layers! Dump some cinnamon, brown sugar and chopped up nuts on top of that. (Are you beginning to see why it's called a "Dump" cake?) Finally, cover the whole top with a cube of butter cut into thin layers, put the lid on and let it cook for about 3 hours. Serve it up warm with a big dollop of whipped cream. (That's Pooka's favorite part!)
