Utah Pagan Community Publications is looking for submissions for a Community Cookbook. please submit recipes for Appetizers, Beverages, Bread, Salad, Soups, Main Dishes, Desserts, Canning, Vegan and Vegetarian, Organic, etc. Please also submit your recipes for Incense, Oils, and other Craft Projects. If you would like to include a short description of your recipe please do so. Magickal associations, appropriate sabbat, pictures or anything else you would also be appreciated. I am really excited about this project and would love to here from you!
I will also be looking for a name for our cookbook, if you have any ideas please submit them.If your name gets chosen for the cookbook, you will receive a free copy.

| READ AN EXCERPT FROM THANK THE LIBERALS |
A few years ago, on a bored Thanksgiving weekend, on a rare day when I had too much time on my hands, I started blogging. I decided to call my domain "Liberaland," because I believe America is just that—a liberal land where, as the site’s tongue-in-cheek logo indicates, all the states are blue, even if some are bluer than others. I didn’t know if I’d keep going with the website, but once I began I couldn’t stop. For one thing, writing helped solidify my thinking and helped me prepare for my radio show and my television appearances. As I continued to produce material for the site, and as I thought more about this concept, I came to believe that America truly is Liberaland. And that’s where the idea for this book began.
I firmly believe that almost every American holds many liberal views and that conservatives have many more of them than they’ll admit. Sorry if that makes certain heads explode, but this ain’t Iran. We live in one of the freest nations on earth, and that, in and of itself, makes you a liberal. If you identify as conservative, just wait... I’ll show you otherwise. And liberals, you already know you’re liberal, but I’ll show you why more of us need to be proud of that.
For too long the word liberal has languished in a pool of disrepute, demonized by detractors as representing all that’s wrong with our country—even though America was founded upon and has progressed along liberal lines, advancing because of liberal efforts. A well-honed right-wing message machine has been in full force for years, grinding out focus-group-tested definitions of what a liberal is, in keeping with the concept of defining the enemy before the enemy can define itself. This effort has successfully turned one of our great American ideals into a dirty word, so much so that many liberals have taken to calling themselves "progressives" to avoid the dreaded "L" word. But, as Americans, we shouldn’t shy away from this term: liberal and liberty both derive from the same root, tracing their origins back to the Latin liber, which means free. This is one reason why I proudly stand by my claim to being a liberal. In fact, I use the terms liberal and progressive interchangeably, both in this book and in life, and proudly claim both as calling cards. Conversely, I refer to the other side as regressives, and that description needs no further explanation. The conservative assault on the word liberal continues, but it hasn’t deterred me from using it in the title of both my previous book and this one. In fact, the besmirching of the word has inspired me to do so. Brilliant wordsmiths like Frank Luntz work with Republicans to define issues in ways that make liberals look bad by default and give conservatives the linguistic edge to sell their views to the American people. Much of Luntz’s advice involves making government the enemy and tagging liberals as the proprietors of this evil enterprise. For example, in 2009, a Luntz memo advised Republicans how to fight "the ’Washington takeover’ of healthcare." He encouraged use of the words waste, fraud, and abuse and told conservatives to favor the word reform, even though that’s exactly what they were fighting against. Frank denied to me, however, that he created the phrase death panels. That honor seems to belong to Sarah Palin, or at least to the person who writes reminders on her palm. All of these efforts have left the impression that a liberal is an odd breed that conservatives can’t quite understand.
Thank the Liberals will show you that liberal ideals are nothing to be ashamed of; in fact, they’re something we all share. You’ll see just why the claims of anti- Americanism hurled at liberals are beyond the pale. America was born liberal—the Declaration of Independence puts forth a liberal mission statement, and the Constitution lays out a liberal framework for how the business of our nation is to be conducted. At the time, America was, in fact, beyond liberal—it was radical to leave the protection of the motherland and escape from the long arm of the throne and its state-run religion by establishing a new republic, while demanding independence and taxation only with representation.
How Liberal Are You?
 Do you believe that all men and women are created equal?
Do you relish being able to speak, assemble, and dissent without worry that the government will
arrest you?
Are you thankful for Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid?
Do you enjoy having weekends, personal days, and vacations?
Have you ever loved someone regardless of his or her religious or political beliefs?
Should an uninsured patient in a coma be treated?
Are you thankful that the cost of your bananas isn’t higher?
Would you love your child just the same if he or she were gay?
What if she told you she had had an abortion?
Have you ever used birth control?
If you answered "yes" to:
1–3 of these questions, you have liberal tendencies.
3–6 of them, you are definitely a liberal.
